The second network meeting on May 18, 2021 was organized online with a simultaneous interpretation. The BIM-ICE team met with representatives from 11 companies and students from both universities.
Among the issues on the agenda were introductions of our new partner companies MINEX and MM-Technologies (Russia), and Nodetec and Rakennusliike U. Lipsanen (Finland), collaboration possibilities for students and companies involved in the project, pilot courses, and news from the project activities.
So far, students have carried out already five theses for the needs of partner companies about, for example, 3D city modelling. Two theses will be published a bit later.
Project engineer Jarno Rautiainen talked about an interesting remote project work course that included cross-border collaboration with students from SPbGASU and LAB. Finnish civil engineering students composed digital models of their building design in a simulated construction project. Russian students worked as experts for HVAC and created their respective design models. Students worked in groups and produced their models according to OpenBIM. Models were then fit together in different software.
BIM Summer School will be organized again. This summer, students can work on assignments from BIM-ICE project partners, such as research on new technologies and applications, help in implementation of recognized new technologies and development tasks from companies.
Pilot courses about BIM, inventory modelling and BIM philosophy and BIM renovation will be organized in LAB in the autumn. Right now, one pilot course is going on in SPbGASU, and BIMAC2021 conference and BIM-Championships were organized in April.
So, this spring has been full of activities – thank you everyone!
Our team wishes you a nice summer and looks forward to seeing you again in the autumn!
