BIMAC 2021 Conference broadens its scope

The 4th International Scientific and Practical Conference “BIM in Construction and Architecture” (BIMAC 2021; http://bim.conf.spbgasu.ru/en/) was held at SPbGASU on April 21-23 online. This year, the BIMAC 2021 conference was organized in the scope of the international BIM-ICE project.

Alexey Semenov, deputy BIM-ICE project manager, noted the broadening the scope of the BIMAC 2021 Procedings: “A lot of articles are devoted to laser scanning technologies, virtual and augmented reality. Manuscripts devoted to the operation stage began to appear – it means we are starting to broaden the scope and move on from design and construction. It also symbolizes an active developing of BIM technologies”.

Iurii Stolbikhin, deputy BIM-ICE project manager, presented the project and its current events: “At the moment our university is holding an internal BIM Championship. In addition, since the beginning of February, students of the two partner universities have jointly created four models of small industrial buildings.”

Timo Lehtoviita, the representative of the LAB project team, shared the information on the current state and future of Open BIM in Finland. OpenBIM is an open process in which participants share information and support collaboration.

The survey of the 13 Finnish universities within the Project showed that most of them have been implementing BIM for more than six years. At the same time, many of them believe that BIM will play an increasing role in future.

The BIMAC 2021 organizers thank all the conference participants and manuscript authors for their participation and invite specialists to cooperate within the BIM-ICE project, to take part in courses, the student BIM championships and in the next BIMAC Conference in 2022.
